This wine is typified by its winsome aromas that contain elements of dried roses and spices while evoking exotic fruits like lychees and mango. The final taste which remains in the mouth speaks of the minerality of the limestone marl terroir of Pfersigberg in which it is grown. As well as being a wonderful aperitif wine, the Grand Cru Pfersigberg accompanies foie gras or cheeses made from unpasteurised milk such as Roquefort or Munster perfectly. "Notions of ripe and juicy Mirabelle plum and peach fill the nose of this wine. They also imbue the palate with even more juiciness and concentrated fruit but here they are countered by vivid, almost candied lemon freshness. This wine is ripe and luscious but dry. Big, rich and dense, this is still folded onto itself and needs time to develop further. A very pretty wine that finishes clean and long, with a powerful saline bent. (ID) 92+" Score: 92+, Vinous, Feb 2019 "A sweetly fragrant nose here with focussed white melon and lychees, leading to a palate that offers quite sweet, rich and fleshy fruit. From organically grown grapes." Score: 91, James Suckling, July 2019 |
