THE VINEYARD
Vineyards are located in Eguisheim and in other localities. Predominantly composed of argilo-calcareous soils, the slopes of varying degrees of steepness around Eguisheim offer excellent wine growing conditions. They are protected by the Vosges mountains where rainfall is light (less than 550mm on average per year). These weather conditions allow the grapes to mature naturally, minimising the risk of disease.
GRAND CRU EICHBERG
The Grand Cru Eichberg terroir has a top soil of clay and an undersoil composed of limestone and sandstone. Celebrated since the Middle Ages, the wines are full, round and concentrated.
SIGNATURE OF ALSACE
These Grand Cru Eichberg Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Pinot Gris are definitely the signature of Alsace wines. This Grand Cru Eichberg Riesling is differentiated from Riesling Spatlese and Riesling Auslese, which are sweet wines made from late harvested Riesling. Grand Cru Eichberg Riesling is a dry white wine with subtle sweetness, like a "common" white wine.
In Alsace, Grand Cru wines account around 5% of the total production.
