A brilliant effort from proprietor Denis Durantou, this wine (80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon) hit 14.5% natural alcohol. Rich mocha and black cherry notes are followed by a powerful, lavishly rich, almost extravagant style of wine that is almost atypical for Lalande de Pomerol, yet the purity, richness, and density are all there. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. (Tasted two times.)
