【Feature】Château Clarke
Baron Edmond de Rothschild
Château Clarke is a large estate named after the Irish family who purchased it in 1771. Two centuries later, the estate was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild. Perpetuating his illustrious family's love of wine, the co-owner of Château Lafite-Rothschild, Baron Edmond, had always dreamed of owning a wine estate that he could make his own.
The estate was entirely restructured, renovated and modernised, making Clarke an icon in its appellation. Today, the vineyard consists of fifty-five hectares of clay-limestone rises planted predominantly with Merlot grapes (fairly rare in the Médoc).
Since 1997, Edmond's son, Benjamin de Rothschild's and his wife Ariane's love of the good life and all things excellent is reflected in the meticulous care taken to produce their wines as well as the magnificent gardens surrounding the estate, featuring an incredibly diverse selection of plants and trees.
