Thirty-nine percent of the production made it into the 2013 Rauzan Segla, a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. One of the stars of the appellation, it reveals fatness and texture, which were not easy to achieve in this vintage. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by loads of black currant, licorice and smoky oak in the background. Medium-bodied with sweet tannin and good acidity that provides uplift and vibrancy, this successful 2013 can be consumed over the next decade or more.
