Tasting Notes 酒評

It has a deep, very bright garnet color. On the nose it expresses an intense fruit character with hints of currant and blueberry jam together with a touch of cherries in liquor, quince meat and a subtle note of dried flowers and toasted caramel. On the palate it envelops the palate with a voluminous and velvety texture formed by tannins without edges and melted together. A good freshness provides a good balance and enhances the final aromas of fresh fruit, violet and pink pepper. A full-bodied and fresh red wine, ideal to accompany stewed poultry and pork meat with creamy sauces, mountain rice and cured cow and sheep cheeses. To enjoy now or in the next 3 years served between 15 and 17ºC.

“Agrícola de Cadalso Syrah 2017 has been made with grapes planted 20 years ago on 2 hectares on granite soils. The destemmed grapes fermented in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts and were kept in cement for 6 months before bottling. It fascinates me on the nose, which screams Northern Rhone! With hints of smoked bacon, violets, bitumen and tapenade. It is really expressive, clean, open and aromatic, in a way that makes me think of some Alain Graillot wines. In the mouth it is very tasty, almost salty. It is a wine that makes you think of food. It is a raw, naked and faithful expression of the syrah. Amazing! Production of 8,000 bottles. It was bottled in March 2018”

Vintage 2018 : "I was very impressed by their Syrah from 2017 even if it's not a grape often found in Gredos, so I was really curious to taste the 2018 Agrícola de Cadalso Syrah, as the vintage had been much better, to see if they could improve on it. The grapes ripened slowly and thoroughly and yields were good, so there was balance to produce fresh wines but with enough stuffing. This comes from two hectares planted 20 years ago at 700 meters in altitude on granite and quartz soils. The destemmed grapes fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts, and the wine rested in concrete for 18 months. The nose has textbook notes of tapenade, black olives and also the anchovies—salty and tasty, with Rhône finesse and some minty and licorice thrown in. It's medium-bodied and balanced, with freshness and granite texture. It's really tasty. I'm VERY impressed! 8,174 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020. Comando G helps the cooperative of Cadalso de los Vidrios, the village where they have their winery, to produce and market some wines, usually young reds."
